The famous/infamous German triplane, greatly maneuverable but also quite feared by many of her own pilots as being structurally weak and dangerous to fly, the Dr I triplane has gained monstrous fame as to it´s relation with the legendary Baron Manfred von Richthofen (The Red Baron). The Dr I was built and equipped by the German units in relatively small numbers. The Germans only started the original design after encountering the British Sopwith Triplane.
