Stuka is short for Sturzkampfflugzeug the German word for dive bomber. The Ju87A was sent to Spain during the Spanish Civil War to be combat tested by the German Condor Legion, much was gained from this experience that quickly lead to the improved Ju87B series. The Stuka was a terrifying and highly effective dive bomber but only when air superiority was held.
