The bf109b was one of the predecessors to the legendary bf109e that was to serve the German Luftwaffe so well at the beginning of the Second World War. The bf109b and bf109c series saw action during the Spanish Civil War with the Condor Legion. This model could also be used as a bf109c as the external features were almost the same. Designed by Willy Messerschmitt the Bf designation stands for Bayerische Flugzeugwerke were the machine was developed.
