Entering service with the French Escadrille in the spring of 1915 the Spad A2 turned out to be a disappointment and left French service by early 1916. The Russians did not share this assessment and the A2 continued to serve with the Russians well into 1922. The odd and dangerous configuration of the Spad A2 placed the propeller between the pilot and the gunner/observer, communication between the two was next to impossible and the other dangers are readily apparent. Most Spad A2´s were equipped with a protective screen behind the gunner/observers position to prevent contact with the propeller.

1 model aircraft made from 1/16 inch Ash wood, included 1 flight stand made of 1/8 inch Birch plywood and two magnets.

Some assembly required.
