The Royal Aircraft Factories Be2 created by Geoffrey de Havilland was flying before the Great War started and soldiered on throughout the war.  Disliked and not trusted the Be2 was awkward, slow, and with a very low endurance when tasked.  The Be2 continued throughout the war simply because the British needed it.  Both the Allies and the Germans had unflattering names for it but the Be2 carried on, eventually not used in front line service after 1917.  The Be2 did have some success against the German airships that where bombing England.
