The mon (family crest) of Chosokabe Motochika, best known for conquering the island of Shikoku. It took Chosokabe over twenty years to conquer Shikoku but was only able to hold it for a year or so before losing his domains to Toyotomi Hideyoshi. Chosokabe initially fought against Toyotomi's overwhelming forces but was given a second chance by the Great Toyotomi Hideyoshi to surrender and join him. After his surrender to Hideyoshi the daimyo Chosokabe Motochika was placed in the vanguard of Toyotomi's forces that invaded Kyushu.
Almost all mon can be found to be used by many different samurai throughout the centuries.
