The Roland CII Walfisch (Whale) made it's operational debut in October 1915 and stayed in front line service until the end of autumn 1917. Designed and manufactured by Luft-Fahrzeug-Gesellschaft or G.m.b.H. The Whale had very effective fields of fire armed with a forward firing synchronized machine gun and one ring mounted machine gun for the gunner/observer, it was also capable of carrying a respectable compliment of bombs. The main drawback to the CII was that it was somewhat sluggish in maneuverability and heavy, but also reported to be able to withstand a good amount of punishment.
